Nikon has announced its latest digital SLR at the consumer level, the Nikon D60 DSLR. It is a 10.2MP digital camera that look and feel familiar to users of D40X. It includes a dust which incorporates a self-cleaning sensor unit which shakes off dust, combined with a system of air circulation to channel the dust away from the sensor. The model also adds active d-light, a stop-motion Expeed recording mode and marking.
 
Nikon D60 DSLR cameraNikon Europe today announced the start of the Nikon D60, a digital SLR designed for the consumer who wants to combine technology with high usability and creative features. The D60 offers a resolution of 10.2 megapixels effective, Nikon's exclusive EXPEED concept of image processing, in-camera editing functions and a 3-area autofocus system. The camera offers continuous shooting at 3.0 frames per second, close to the powers that be in only 0.19 seconds and high ISO sensitivity, all in a compact, lightweight body with a user-friendly ergonomic.

The Nikon D60 DSLR is designed to simplify use of the device and allow the photographer to concentrate on taking pictures. The camera is simple and easy to use, includes a limited number of buttons and a combined monitor and display of information. A 2.5-inch LCD screen presents information using an easy to understand graphical user interface, with three types of style of presentation to suit all users. The symbols and figures of the display through a rotation of 90 degrees, which presents information to the proper orientation in terms of how the camera is held. The D60 also includes a new feature that extinguishes the LCD monitor screen automatically when the viewfinder is in use.

The Nikon D60 DSLR uses EXPEED exclusive technology to maximize image quality and processing speed. The device also offers creative functions that are designed to enable the optimization and adjustment of the images without needing a computer. Optimizing the image is obtained with features such as Active D-Lighting (which offsets the sharp shadows), and automatic correction of eye color false when using the flash. Creative features include the automatic creation of the stop-motion animation files from a sequence of images, and the effects that simulate the use of optical filters to produce shadows and colors sparkling highlights.

To combat the dust, which can be introduced into the device when changing lenses, the D60 includes an integrated system for reducing dust. Exclusive Nikon Airflow Control System channels dust from the image and a way vibrant, self-cleaning sensor shook off any remaining dust from the optical device.

Nikon D60 DSLR  is capable of use in a variety of lighting conditions due to a wide range of ISO 100 to ISO 1600 and provides vivid color reproduction with clear, sharp results .. For ease of use in places where flash photography is not allowed, the camera automatically adjusts the sensitivity for the best results. The camera's built-in Speedlight produced excellent results through the balance of sophisticated Nikon i-TTL system, and also allows the use of other Speedlights controlled remotely.

Storing images on a compact SD memory cards (compatible with SD), the D60 body is approximately 126 (W) x 94 (H) x 64 (D) mm and weighs 495 grams. Supplied accessories include a rechargeable Li-ion, a quick charger, USB cable, rubber eyecup, strap, body cap, eyepiece cap and hat accessory shoe. The software provided includes the Nikon Software Suite on CD-ROM. Software for photo printing and remote camera can be purchased separately as an option.
